The Search for William Cure - The Revolutionary Patriot

The Cure Family has published a book called "The Cure Family." In this book, the progenitor is William Cure, born in England and died in New York. There is War Record recorded at the beginning of the book which indicates that said William Cure served in the Revolutionary War in Captain Samuel Sacket's Company for the New York Regiment. Also, designated 4th Battalion, New York Forces commanded by Henry B Livingston. The record also shows William Cure served as a Sargent in Capt. George Brinkerhoff's Company, Col. Dirck Brinkerhoff's Regiment, New York Militia, Duchess County. William Cure is also listed as serving in Abraham Brinkerhoff's New York Milita, Duchess County, New York.



The intent is to document whether or not he had a son named John Cure, father of William Cure Jr. born in 1805 in New York, who married Elizabeth Jones in 1804.

Census Digging for the Cures'

I spent time in the BYU Family History Library and went to the beginning of the first census taken in New York from 1663-1772.  John Cure is listed having 1 female and 1 child with him.
In the 1790 Census - there is a John Cure of Montgomery, MD; Walter Cure, NY, and William Cure, NY.
In the 1800 Census - there is a John Cure, NY who had 1 M (himself) and 1 female.  There is also an Elias Cure, NY who had 1M (himself) and 1F. I have located his headstone.  His wife is Elizabeth N Boardman and their child - Simon S. Cure.  I will update and post this headstone.

I will be researching all the CURES from the beginning to the 1880's. What a great journey this will be.
